Description
- Use: this ultrasonic hardness testing instrument is ideal for mobile hardness testing where fast and accurate results are essential
- Principle: SAUTER HO uses an oscillating bar, which oscillates with the ultrasonic frequency and is pressed onto the test object with a defined test force. On the lower end is a Vickers indenter. Its resonance frequency increases as soon as it is brought into contact with the test object by the generation of compression. The resulting resonance frequency shift is attributed to the corresponding Vickers hardness by means of a respective adjustment on the instrument.
- Examples: the SAUTER HO ultrasonic hardness testing system is mainly used for the measurement of small forged parts, cast parts, weld spots, stamped parts, cast tools, ball bearings and gear wheel flanks, as well as for measurements after the application of heat or heat
- Advantages over the Rockwell and Brinell method: Almost non-destructive testing due to the lower applied load and therefore only with a microscopically smaller penetration crater
- Advantage over the Vickers method: the time-consuming optical measurement is dispensed with. In this case, one can measure directly on site, e.g. an installed part
- Advantage over the Leeb method: the high requirements regarding the test object's own weight are largely dispensed with
- Regulatory standards: the device complies with the following technical standards: DIN 50159-1; ASTM-A1038-2005; JB/T9377-2013
- Measurement data memory stores up to 1000 groups of measurement values, each consisting of 20 individual values
- Elementary statistical function: display of measurement result, number of measurements, maximum and minimum value as well as mean value and standard tolerance
- Calibration: The device can be set for both standard hardness comparison plates and up to 20 reference calibration values. Thus, different materials can be measured quickly, without the instrument having to be set to individual materials each time
- Scope of delivery: Standard hardness block (approx. 61 HRC), USB cable, display unit, UCI sensor unit, carrying case, software for transferring saved data to PC, protective case (turquoise), other accessories
